Mr. Justice Mushtaq Muhammad, born in October 1966, has had a notable and accomplished career in the judiciary. He completed his Matriculation at F.G. Boys High School No.1, Gilgit, in 1984, followed by a Bachelor's degree from the University of Punjab in 1988. Pursuing his legal education further, he earned his LLB from Gomal University, D.I Khan, in 1992.
Mr Justice Mushtaq Muhammad began his professional journey as an advocate in 1993, establishing a solid foundation in legal practice. By 1996, he was officially enrolled as an advocate of the court of Judicial Commissioner Northern Areas. His career progressed significantly when, in 2003, he successfully passed a competitive examination and was appointed as Civil Judge 1st Class/ Judicial Magistrate. He also completed an 8-week pre-service training course for Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrates at the Federal Judicial Academy which further honed his judicial expertise.
In 2006, Mr Justice Mushtaq Muhammad qualified for the examination held by FPSC and was appointed as an Additional District & Sessions Judge. As an Additional District & Sessions Judge, he served in Gilgit and Astore and he was promoted to District & Sessions Judge in 2011. Throughout his tenure, he served in several key districts, including Ghanche, Skardu, Diamer, Gilgit and Hunza, effectively handling a wide range of judicial responsibilities. His role as a Judge at the National Accountability Court, Gilgit, from 2015 to 2018, highlighted his commitment to accountability and transparency in the legal system.
On September 16, 2022, Mr Justice Mushtaq Muhammad was elevated to deposition of Judge at the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court. This promotion reflects his extensive judicial experience, profound legal acumen, and unwavering dedication to upholding justice. His career is characterized by a deep commitment to the principles of fairness and integrity.
