Mr. Ghulam Abbas Chopa, a distinguished legal professional and mediator from Gilgit Baltistan, boasts a rich academic and professional background. Born on March 3rd, 1975, in Khaplu, the district headquarters of Ghanche district, Mr. Chopa embarked on his educational journey with fervor and dedication.

His formative years were spent in Khaplu, where he received his early and secondary education before venturing to Allama Iqbal College Karachi for his intermediate studies, graduating in 1993. Subsequently, he pursued his undergraduate studies at National College Karachi, culminating in a degree in the year 1996. Eager to deepen his legal understanding, Mr. Chopa attained his LLB from Punjab University in 2000, further solidifying his foundation in law.

In 2001, Mr. Ghulam Abbas Chopa was duly enrolled as an advocate in the Punjab Bar Council, marking the commencement of his illustrious legal career. His dedication to the legal profession saw him actively practicing law until 2005, garnering invaluable experience and expertise.

Transitioning seamlessly into public service, Mr. Chopa assumed the role of District Attorney in 2005, where he served the Baltistan region with distinction until November 2012. His commitment to justice and the rule of law did not go unnoticed, as he was appointed Additional District and Sessions Judge in 2012 by the Gilgit Baltistan Judiciary through the Federal Public Service Commission. This marked a pivotal moment in his career, allowing him to further contribute to the legal system of the region.

Continuing his upward trajectory, Mr. Ghulam Abbas Chopa was promoted to the esteemed position of District and Sessions Judge in 2014, assuming responsibilities across districts including Astore, Ghizer, Diamer, and Skardu. His tenure in these diverse regions underscored his adaptability and leadership prowess within the judicial realm.

Presently, Mr. Chopa serves as the esteemed Registrar of the Gilgit Baltistan Chief Court in Gilgit, where he continues to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.
Throughout his career, Mr. Chopa has been an avid learner, actively participating in numerous training sessions, workshops, and conferences both domestically and internationally. His dedication to continuous education is highlighted by his diploma in Human Rights from the University of Hull, England.Throughout his career, Mr. Ghulam Abbas Chopa has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to continuous learning and professional development. In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Chopa has expanded his repertoire to include mediation, recognizing its pivotal role in resolving disputes amicably. His credentials in this arena include a Master’s degree in Judicial Studies and International Energy Disputes from Singapore Management University, alongside international accreditation in Mediation from the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy. Further enhancing his mediation prowess, Mr. Chopa has completed specialized courses in Turkey and China, solidifying his status as a reputable mediator.
